NEW YORK
What originally was supposed to be a weekend in Austin, somehow turned into a weekend in NYC! I live for a spontaneous trip and it felt so so good to be back in the city after what feels like forever. While the energy was definitely different and the city was less busy, the buzz of the city is slowly returning!
My short trip basically consisted of shopping and eating. Included some of the deets from this weekend below!
WHERE I ATE
Artichoke Pizza is my NYC must have every single time. I get their namesake - The Artichoke Pizza. It’s definitely my favorite New York slice!
Celebrated my SIL’s birthday at Catch NYC in Chelsea. I’ve been to Catch a few times in NY & LA and it’s always so great! Some of my favorites from there are the crispy shrimp, lobster mac and cheese and the 'Hit Me’ chocolate cake (must have).
If you want to overload on carbs, head straight to Marea. Not only do they have a Michelin Star, but also a delicious black truffle pasta! I got the Garganelli with mushrooms and truffles. If you’re feeling bold, the fusilli is their speciality.
WHAT I SHOPPED
Shopping on Fifth Ave is a definite must for any trip to NYC. We stopped at Bergdorf Goodman, a NYC landmark, and also got to took peek at the Sabyasachi collection. The Louis Vuitton store on Fifth was awesome, loved the design outside the store. Madison Ave also has prime shopping - with a good mix of designer and budget brands. My hamstrings are literally sore from walking all the walking but it was so worth it.
WHERE I STAYED
We stayed at the Langham Hotel. Centrally located in Midtown on Fifth Ave, it was the perfect place for us to rest and recharge after full days of shopping - not to mention close to so many restaurants and stores! Apparently the restaurant Ai Fiori in the hotel has a Michel star but we didn’t get the chance to give it a try this time.
THINGS I DIDN’T GET TO
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to go to a sample sale, but I’m hoping that I can on our next trip to the Big Apple. Check out Chimci’s list of sales if you’re in the area and want to shop!
We also didn’t get to walk through Soho, which also has great shopping, trend spotting and good restaurants like Prince Street Pizza, Rubirosa and Le Cou Cou.
