Sangeet

Every event that weekend was so special in it’s own way. I remember walking into our sangeet completely blown away. The decor was beyond what we had imagined!

I had picked a red and gold color palette for this event. I wanted it to be colorful but also shift a little from the traditional multi colored mehndi/sangeet colors. For the most part, BTS incorporated a lot of my design requests with their own insanely awesome ideas. However, it wasn’t until after meeting with the decor company we were renting pieces from that they suggested we add a “Sabyasachi” theme to the decor.

It was the perfect touch to the event! Usman and I were both wearing Sabyasachi and the decor incorporated a lot of inspiration from the Sabyasachi boutique in India. I haven’t been to the boutique but Usman said it’s incredible!

The event itinerary was similar to most mehndi/sangeets. We had entrances, short traditional “rasams” (ceremony) of being fed mithai, and lots of dancing!

The most important thing to myself and Usman is that we wanted to keep the traditional ceremonies as short as possible the entire weekend. Often times, we have seen brides & grooms stuck on a stage for so long being fed sweets and taking pictures and we didn’t want to do that. We wanted to be walking around mingling with our friends and family before the dances started!

Our family and friends had put together hilarious skits, choreographed phenomenal dances, and we danced the rest of the night away until my feet were literally blistered.
